There is new life emerging with birds having their young. In the church, Lent also is about a new start, an opportunity to consider renewing our Faith and Action. The blessing with Ashes reminds us that we are fragile, need to repent and believe the Good News (Word of God). MASS TIMES & BLESSED ASHES:(Wed.

Carmelite Convent Delgany: 9.15 a.m. *No Mass in Newcastle. TAX RECLAIM: The Tax Reclaim forms are being prepared for sending to parishioners for signing. Parishioners who contribute €250 or more during the year and are on PAYE can sign (and the tax is reclaimed for the parish). WORDONWEB IN LENT: The final programme in this series preparing for the Eucharistic Congress will take place during Lent. The programme will focus on Mission and over three weeks will consider, through reflecting on scripture, what it means to ‘Act Justly’ (14th March), ‘Be the Blessing’ (21st March) and ‘Go in Peace to Love and Serve the Lord’ (March 28th). This programme will take place in the St. Thérèse Room, Carmelite Monastery, Delgany at 8pm on each of the evenings. All are welcome to attend. EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS BELL VISIT TO GREYSTOENS AND KILQUADE PASTORAL AREA 23rd to 28th February 2012 The bell arrives in our pastoral area on the day after Ash Wednesday. You are invited to begin a pilgrimage within the pastoral area accompanying the bell on its journey through our area and continuing that pilgrimage through Lent and into our Easter celebrations. We will provide a number of resources to support you on your journey. There are posters in the porch with details of the itinerary. You are invited to ‘Come and See’ (Jn. 1:39), to come on each day to reflect on what it means to be a Eucharistic people looking towards the joy of Easter and the empty tomb. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS/READERS DAY: Thank you to the 90 people who participated in our day in Newcastle Oratory on Saturday the 28th Jan. It was, I hope, a fulfilling experience. I and the Priests present took a lot from it. I have 10 pages of notes of feedback from the group work. I promise to work with that and to act on the areas addressed in it. I have received a number of evaluation forms already, please do complete them and return them to me, your comments about the day are valuable in helping to develop similar events in the future. If you would like to be part of a small group to work between now and Easter on the output from the day do let me know at 012017360 or paul.thornton@dublindiocese.ie. The members are Mary Keddy (Chairperson), Rachel Kerrigan, Theresa Chambers, Pauline Brown, Colette Hunt, John Greene, Bill Cassidy, Donal Kavanagh and Hugh Clifford. The priests of the parish, Frs. Liam, Sean, Eamonn and Michael are ex-officio members of the Council, as are Paul Thornton and Frances Stephenson, our Lay Pastoral Worker and Child-Protection Delegate respectively.
